♫ Lattes and snow globes and thigh high stilettos, these are a few of my favorite things ♫. As I’m humming this to the tune of Julie Andrews’s “My Favorite Things’ (in true nerd fashion), I’m reminded that Fall and Winter truly are my favorite times of the year, because what better time than now to incorporate some texture, layers, and fun details into your wardrobe?
I think it’s safe to say that many of us have fallen into this deep dark abyss where “athleisure” is now the fashion norm. (Ok, I confess, I’ve fallen into the deep dark abyss where “athleisure” has become my fashion norm. Insert sad face emojis.). And no, I don’t work out. So the first step to recovery is acknowledgment, right? Well how can you add some fun texture to your fall/winter closet without looking like Effie Tricket from Hunger Games? (I actually loved her wardrobe options to be honest. Effie: You girl, are slay queen.)
Can you believe that I scored this amazing braided faux leather skirt for $6? Yep, that’s right: $6! You can barely get a decent cup of coffee for 6 bucks these days. I also styled this look with some edgy croc boots and a charming jeweled beret. Berets are also a great statement piece to add some French flare to any look. So who invented berets anyways? Fun fact: No one really knows who invented the beret, but it was originally worn by men, and beret-esque headgear can be traced as far back as the Bronze Age in Northern Europe (France was actually one of the first countries to start producing it on a large scale). So in true French fashion, Vive la beret!
I’ve put together a similar look for you guys and you can shop my look below. Now that you’ve got some inspo on how to add texture to your wardrobe, I’d love to know what type of fashion dilemmas you guys are experiencing these days. Drop a comment below and let’s work it out together =-).
